About David Glass

A lifelong resident, business owner, and community leader dedicated to protecting the future of Bastrop County.

Rooted in Bastrop County

David Glass has spent his life building in Bastrop County. His connection to this land and its communities is not a talking point; it is a defining characteristic of his life and career. As a business owner, rancher, and community leader for more than four decades, he understands what it takes to manage growth without losing what makes this place home.

Before entering public service, David spent over 40 years running a successful national software company. He knows what it means to sign a paycheck, balance a complex budget, and be accountable for outcomes. When he stepped away from his business, he brought that exact same operational rigor to Bastrop County government.

He serves as County Commissioner not to be a politician, but to be a steward. Bastrop County is growing rapidly, and the challenges we face with traffic, water security, and development require a leader who plans for the future while protecting our past.

Leadership Across the County

David's commitment to Bastrop County extends far beyond the Commissioner's Court. Over the years, he has taken on demanding roles to ensure the fundamental systems that keep our communities running are strong.

County Commissioner, Precinct 4

Managing infrastructure, the county road system, and the Precinct 4 budget for Elgin and rural eastern Bastrop County.

President, Aqua Water Supply Corporation

Overseeing critical water infrastructure that provides clean, reliable water to thousands of Bastrop County residents.

Board Member, Bastrop County Appraisal District

Ensuring fair, transparent, and accurate property valuations for every taxpayer.

President, Elgin Economic Development Corporation

Guiding economic growth to bring responsible businesses and jobs to the local community.

Educational & Regional Leadership

Active involvement with Austin Community College and regional transportation boards to position our workforce and infrastructure for tomorrow.

A Personal Stake

David's stake in Bastrop County is personal. He and his wife have been married for over 40 years. They raised their four children here, and are now proudly watching their six grandchildren grow up in the same vibrant community.

When he is not reviewing county budgets or checking on road projects, David is working his own land. His background in ranching and farming keeps him grounded in the realities of rural life — the lifeblood of our county's identity.
